Visit to India

Bianca van Egmond and Coen van der Eijk travelled to India in November 2024, to see and experience first hand how our napkins and linen are made. We visited the cotton fields in the north and the spinning mills, which are often a few hours drive from the cotton fields. In the spinning mill, cotton bolls are processed into long, raw threads. These threads are packed into bales and transported to the weaving mill.

In the weaving mill, the raw threads are processed and spun into fine threads that can be used to make napkins or sheets. Hundreds of these bobbins are needed for one sheet. These threads are very fine, and they regularly break. When that happens, the machine must be reset. Nowadays, this is controlled by a computer, but until a few years ago, it was all done by hand.
